I must be nuts to go to a 4-hour long concert in the middle of the exam period, but last night's was worth missing out on cramming time. The first half was simply amazing, and I love Berlioz even more. He is like, sheer genius. And Benjamin Schmidt was breathtaking during the violin concerto no. 1 in G Minor by Bruch. Finally, I get to hear a Stradivarius live!! He put he SSO violinists to shame [their upper register sounded positively sqeaky by comparison]. And I've found out the name of that impromptu deliverance: Passacaglia in G Minor, from the Mystery Sonatas. It's beautiful. Absolutely loved last night.
